SUPPORT ATP’S
FORESTRY FUND

The decline of Armenia’s forest cover was caused by many factors including unsustainable logging, use of wood as fuel for cooking and heating, the blockade of the 1990s by Armenia’s neighbors, deforestation by the mining industry, and climate change. Erosion, habitat loss, and diminished supplies of clean water are consequences of a low level of forest cover. It is imperative that we focus our long-term energies on the renewal of Armenia’s forests.

ATP’s Forestry Fund will sustain reforestation efforts, and with your help, will increase the number of trees planted annually in order to replenish the forests that have tragically been lost.

Factors in Forest cover decline

Erosion, habitat loss, and diminished supplies of clean water are consequences of a low level of forest cover. Armenia has faced several factors that have contributed to the decline of important forest cover including:

  • Continued unsustainable logging
  • Domestic use of wood as fuel for cooking and heating
  • Large scale loss during the energy blockade of 1990s by Armenia’s neighbors
  • Deforestation by the mining industry
  • Effects of climate change
